“There are many individuals in the UK and around the world who do not identify as male or female. Bodies are typically male or female, though some cannot be placed in either category through natural variation, and we find the same holds true of minds. The use of the X marker would have no significant impact on bureaucracy and yet would allow those who fall through the gaps of the current system to be represented honestly in their documentation in a way that is accurate to their lived experience.”

FREE COPIES OF THE ANTHOLOGY AVAILABLE FOR TRANS WOMEN OF COLOR AND AMAB NONBINARY POC
As we approach March 31st, the official publishing date for the anthology, we want to send this message of love and strength out to all the trans women of color and amab nonbinary people of color out there in the world. First and foremost, without you, our sisters and siblings, we could not have envisioned or ever created this writing project. All of you were in our hearts throughout the past year as we went from the initial act of organizing to draft our submission guidelines to editing the stories, designing the book, and, finally, preparing to publish online. More than that, you were here for us like no one else, contributing in a thousand small yet essential ways by boosting our posts, writing to us with support, and by fighting to survive alongside us. The only reason we’ve been able to make this book is because of the work you have done, collectively, to make our lives and our art possible. We love you. This anthology book of our stories already belongs to you, so we will not ask you for payment or anything else in exchange for a copy. Free copies are available for you as of this moment, from now until forever.
Please email us at twocanthology [at] gmail [dot] com or message us here so that we can send you your copy. We won’t ask you to prove your identity or to give us any information. Just ask for a copy and we’ll send it to you as soon as possible.
With warmth,
Ellyn and Jamie, editors

[The image above continues our tendency of repurposing images of trans feminine people of color that were originally captured and used by cis people. The image is a still from the film Paris is Burning, directed by Jennie Livingston; it shows Carmen and Brooke Xtravaganza smiling at the viewer from a beach.]
