“There are many individuals in the UK and around the world who do not identify as male or female. Bodies are typically male or female, though some cannot be placed in either category through natural variation, and we find the same holds true of minds. The use of the X marker would have no significant impact on bureaucracy and yet would allow those who fall through the gaps of the current system to be represented honestly in their documentation in a way that is accurate to their lived experience.”

the obama administration says this will be handled on a case-by-case basis. so NB U.S. citizens - if you are able and wishing to do so, consider now attempting to apply to change your legal sex marker to an X! if they really are willing to consider it, perhaps someone will be the first ever legal recognized nonbinary person in the U.S.!

But for transgender and gender non-conforming people like myself, the question of what to wear to work becomes an exhausting question of identity and of survival. For us, the question changes from “how do I present my best self at work?” to “can I present my best self at work?”
LifeOutsideTheBinary call for submissions!
After putting in hours of work over the past four days this site has been up, I can finally say we’re fully open for business.
I’ve created sections for an extensive glossary, a resource page for nonbinary people with several sub-pages coming soon, and a resource page for family and friends, with more resources coming soon.
As far as our blog content goes though, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re all about nonbinary and genderqueer visibility, so we’re looking for submission of art, photography, stories, music, poetry, comics, videos, anything you make to do with your nonbinary gender experience that you’d like to share with others! You’ll receive full credit, of course.
We’d really appreciate you signal-boosting this post so we can reach a wider audience
We’re really excited at how the resource centre is taking off and would like to thank everyone for their support. We can only hope it gets even better with more people joining our community and sharing their stories and experiences.
