“The program information gives an interview with Dr Kenneth Zucker, who the documentary filmmakers say ‘lost his job for challenging the new orthodoxy that children know best’.
In fact, Zucker lost his job after being hit with allegations of psychological abuse against minors. His ‘techniques’ were aimed to ‘repair’ the ‘biological’ gender, and told parents to discard of ‘feminine toys’. The Canadian ‘doctor’ was discredited, disgraced and the gender clinic issued an apology to the more than 500 pre-pubescent youth who came into contact with him since he started practicing in the 1970s.”

CAMH: Terminate Dr. Kenneth Zucker as Head of the Gender Identity Clinic
For Ontario trans* and queer people who wish to obtain sex reassignment surgery (SRS), begin hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and receive other mental health support, the chances of getting it within a reasonable time are slim. The available services cannot meet the demand, resulting in long waiting lists (1-2 years min), and the only body currently able to recommend SRS covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) is the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. The awful irony is that the head of the Gender Identity Clinic (GID) is a transphobic, alleged sex abuser . He is extremely dehumanizing, and believes in “reparative therapy” which will “cure trans people.” This is especially harmful to queer youth who are ignorant to how far-fetched this man’s thinking is. To think that being transgender is a mental illness in 2014, and have someone who believes this in a position of such power is absolutely beyond me. Signing this petition will help bring attention to a very serious matter and help queer folks get the proper help they need. Mr. Kenneth Zucker is being paid a salary of $122k+ (public disclosure, 2011) to deny an oppressed group of people their basic living rights. As of April 14, 2014, he is breaking the law; Mr. Zucker is in direct violation of the new human rights laws implemented for transgender folks. Along with all the signatories of my petition, I am calling upon CAMH to conduct a thorough investigation in conjunction with the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC). Due to Mr. Zucker’s infractions, he should be stripped of his ability to practice “medicine,” and subsequently terminated as head of the Gender Identity Clinic. This is so important. In this video Ontario NDP MPP Cheri Dinovo speaks about her private member’s bill that seeks to ban conversion therapy in Ontario. They also talk about a petition calling for Dr. Kenneth Zucker to be terminated from his position as CAMH’s Head of Gender Identity for Children, due to allegations that he uses conversion therapy on children.
I personally have friends who were treated by Dr. Kenneth Zucker at CAMH’s children’s GID clinic, and what I have heard first-hand from his former patients is absolutely appalling. He is an extremely abusive and damaging practitioner and I am so glad to see that this is being brought to light and that CAMH will be undergoing an external review of their children’s program.

Leelah alcorn was sent to reparative/conversion therapy and I’m going to state again that this practice is only outlawed in three states, we need to push for it to be outlawed across the United States right now, this is what we should be fighting for, we can’t spare any more lives, we can’t allow the torture of any more children
