The Orange is the New Black fan favorite will co-star in Doubt, a CBS drama in contention for the 2015 fall TV schedule.Emmy-nominated actor Laverne Cox has sign on to co-star in Doubt, CBS’ new legal drama pilot, in a role created explicitly for a transgender performer.
Her character Cameron Wirth is described as an Ivy League-educated lawyer, whose personal experiences with injustice make her particularly competitive when it comes to fighting for her clients. Should CBS order Doubt to series, Cox could be playing the first series regular trans character on a primetime CBS show.
Cox already made history for her work on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, becoming the first transgender performer to be nominated for an Emmy in 2014. She will next be seen in an upcoming episode of Fox’s The Mindy Project and in the third season of OITNB.
Congrats, Laverne!

“Each and every one of us has the capacity to be an oppressor. I want to encourage each and every one of us to interrogate how we might be an oppressor, and how we might be able to become liberators for ourselves and each other.”]
